Every summer, magazine editors try to convince me that the “Wet Look is the perfect solution for “going from the pool to a night out on the town.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m not buying it. If I have to go out after the pool, you better believe I’m throwing on a hat instead of running some gel through my tresses.

But maybe I’m in the minority here. What do you think of this style? Is it the “perfect solution” for summer pool hair?

The eyeshadow trend for this summer is all about gorgeous aquas, blues and peacock teals. The weather may be heating up, but eye shades are cooling down.

I personally have several of these shadows in my collection, and stick to the blues that lean towards green. They work better with my skin tone, plus blue makes me worried that I’ve traveled too far back to the ’80s.

I’m starting to see a lot of bangs again (Lauren Conrad even has them now!), and I have to say that I’m a little jealous of anyone who can pull them off. I was “blessed” with a cowlick on the left side of my forehead that makes anything other than a long swoop impossible. Sigh…

In an extremely formal poll (i.e. I walked around the office asking coworkers their opinion), I found that three out of five women prefer that their face makeup have a matte finish, while two like a glow finish.

I was one of the two who said they like their skin to look shimmery and luminous. I’m obsessed with any product that gives me that special glow, and stay far away from any foundation or powder that contains “matte” in its name.

Luckily, Femme Couture has options. You can choose your finish with either the Get a Glow Finishing Powder or the Get Matte Mattifying Powder. We all win!

It started innocently enough, as these things often do. I wanted to incorporate brighter colors into my makeup, but I was too scared to start rocking neon shades right away. So, I started out by experimenting with some pinker colors than I usually wear. After awhile I started getting braver and tried some wilder shades by using sheer lipstick.

That’s when my addiction hit. Sheer lips! Where have you been all my life? I must have you ALL THE TIME!

I’ve always worn glosses and stains, but they’ve been so close to my natural lip shade that I never got the full effect. When you wear a sheer in a bright color, it totally brings it to another level. Lips look dazzling without the wild color being too in your face. This pout has been sporting a juicy hot pink sheer for a few weeks now, and I have gotten so many compliments. I feel like my old opaque lipsticks now make me look dry and dull, and don’t see myself returning to them anytime soon.

I painted my nails white the other day before I added a layer of neon (a white base really makes neons pop and helps them be more opaque), and I was kind of tempted to leave them like that. They looked very summery and fresh, and it’s something I’ve never actually worn before unless you count when I was bored in school and painted my nails with whiteout. Chalky “polish” was not a great look, let me tell you.

It looks like I’m not the only one who thinks this look is pretty neat! I’ve been seeing tons of celebrities post pictures of their own white manicures on Instagram. White is shaping up to be the must-have shade of the season!

I’ve been browsing through recap photos from Coachella a lot lately, thinking three things. 1. I’m obviously not very cool. 2. Oooh! I like their matte red lipstick!   3. What’s with the flower headbands??

Anyway, the headbands. Let’s discuss.

I think they’re a tad bit cute at a outdoor music festival, but I cannot see myself wearing them anywhere else. Ever. I can’t quite decide if I think they’re too hippie or too 80s bad bridesmaid, but something is just too much.

I’m a little cuckoo for color right now, and it’s making me a bit of a shopaholic. I blame the fact that neons AND gorgeous pastels are crazy popular right now. The problem is, I can’t choose which trend I like best so I end up buying both.

Some days I want to rock hot pinks and highlighter yellows, and then the next day nothing soothes me like a pretty peach and minty green. My makeup bag is getting full and my wallet is crying, “UNCLE!” but I don’t see an end in sight. Gotta have that color!
