“I hate to tell you this, but your hair looks like an Easter egg!” – Grease

That quote from one of my all-time favorites movies used to run through my head every time I saw someone sporting pastel colored hair à la the lavender locked Kelly Osbourne. Key emphasis on used to.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m seeing so much of it, but it’s really starting to grow on me. I’m even starting to think young women with colored grey hair look chic. What is happening to me?!

What about you? Do you like pastel hued hair, or is it better left to nail polish and Easter baskets?

How to match your hair extensions

A product thumbnail of Design Lengths Remy Straight Clip-In 18" Light BlondeMatching hair extensions to your natural hair color can be an overwhelming task when purchasing for the first time. You want your extensions to look natural, and if the color doesn’t match perfectly all credibility of having naturally thick and long hair is gone. Here are some good tips to make sure you find your perfect match.

*Use swatches to compare extension colors.

*Do prior research of hair extension colors to become more familiar with the terms and lingo.

*Match the hair extension color to the ends of your hair. The majority of your hair is a different color than the roots, so matching it this way will ensure a more natural look.

* Enlist the help of your stylist.

* Consider buying two different shades of extensions to mix in with natural hair to create a blended look.

You can also color your hair to match the hair extension you purchase. Coloring the extensions is not recommended because the extensions have already gone through such a rigorous treatment process to kill all bacteria and color the extensions. This makes the hair extremely porous and very easy to damage or over process, ending up in a waste of your time and money.

It may take a little extra time to ensure you are getting the right color for your hair, but with the investment you are making with extensions, you want to be sure it is correct. Have fun though and don’t be afraid to experiment with different pops of color within your natural color!

Heel To Toe New Items

Headtotoe

Spring has officially arrived and the warm weather and cute summery clothes reminds me that it is also time to do something about my feet. They’ve spent the winter hibernating in boots, and I want them to be smooth, soft, and sandal ready.

Lucky for me, Heel To Toe is ready to launch some amazing new products to help me whip my feet into shape! Here’s the inside scoop of the new products:

Pedicure Salts – Soak your troubles away! Pedicure salts easily dissolve in warm water to soothe tired feet. Three great scents provide awesome aromatherapy while you relax – Peppermint, Green Tea Lemongrass, or Lavender.

Warming Foot Scrub – This scrub gives a gentle warming sensation as it exfoliates away dry skin.

Argan Heel & Foot Treatment – This uses the power of Argan oil to moisturize rough feet and heels. This formula absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave an oily residue.

Cooling Foot Powder – The convenient aerosol formula keeps feet dry throughout the day, along with an immediate cooling sensation. Perfect for warm weather days when feet tend to feel the heat!

827368_SO_WHT_03-0311Step aside, glossy lips! Matte is here to stay!

Last spring we talked about how matte was a new, popular look in lipsticks. Well a year later and it looks like matte just seems to keep growing in popularity.

Have you embraced this trend? I’m personally loving it because I feel like I can get away with crazier shades when they’re matte. Something about wild colors when they’re glossy scream “LOOK AT MY LIPS RIGHT NOW.”

On the flipside, the slightly “dry” look of a matte lip can turn some off, so I can see why not everyone loves it.

What about you? Where do you stand? Is the matte lip look a yes or no?

FingerPaints Gel Polish – Nail Art

Have you tried the new FingerPaints Soak off Gel Polish? I’m in LOVE with the color selection and how long it lasts! Goodbye chips!

For my latest gel polish manicure, I wanted to mix things up with a simple nail art design. Here’s how to do it:

1. Prep nails by washing them thoroughly, and buff with a 180 buffer to remove shine. Push back cuticles with a plastic pusher and wipe nails with FingerPaints Gel Polish Soak-Off Gel Cleanser to remove oils and dust.

2. Apply FingerPaints Gel Polish Chip-Free Bonder to the tips of your nails. Skip this step if you’re doing a pedicure.

3. Apply a thin layer of FingerPaints Gel Polish Soak-Off Base Coat to fingers and cure in the LED lamp for 30 seconds.

4. Thin layers are the key to success with gel polish, so make sure all your layers are nice and light! Apply a layer of the pink gel polish and cure in the lamp for 30 seconds. Apply a second layer of the pink and cure for an additional 30 seconds.

5. Apply the orange polish at an angle to the tips of your nails and cure for 30 seconds in the LED lamp.

6. Then using the FingerPaints Gel Polish Soak-Off Top Coat, apply a thin layer and cure for 30 seconds. The top layer will be a little sticky, so remove that using the FingerPaints Gel Polish Soak-Off Gel Cleanser on a lint-free pad.

7. Lastly, massage a generous amount of FingerPaints Gel Polish Cuticle Oil to your cuticles. Use this daily to keep your manicure looking fresh.

Have you tried the new gel polish yet? What do you think?

Friday Fashion Poll

Is there anything more relaxing than a pedicure? I love going to the spa and sinking into the massage chair, while someone pampers my feet. But, to me, a pedicure is a once in awhile indulgence. I only get them a few times a year and paint my own toes the rest of the time. I even have a cute Heel to Toe Inflatable Pedicure Bath that I use at home to soak while watching my favorite shows. It’s not the same but it keeps me happy between appointments.

I do, however, have some friends who go every month without fail to get pedicures. To them, it’s a necessary part of their beauty routine, like getting their roots touched up or a trim.

What about you? How often do you get pedicures? Are they a special treat or something that is part of your normal beauty maintenance?

Friday Fashion Poll

I recently went on a trip with my mother and sister, and shared a hotel with them.  Three women in a room is always an interesting experience, but it gave me a chance to observe how differently we all approach makeup.

Besides using different brands and application methods, we all had ideas about which situations called for makeup. Take for example, running out to grab breakfast one morning.

My mother was dressed and accessorized with full makeup, and my sister threw on some sunglasses and lipgloss. I was the one with uncombed hair in a ponytail and a completely bare face. To me, a breakfast run did not warrant breaking out the makeup, whereas my mother wouldn’t be caught dead in public without it. My sister fell somewhere in the middle.

I do love wearing makeup, but unless I have a special event, it’s not touching my face on a weekend. Usually I’m a five days a week wearer.

What about you? How often do you wear makeup? Daily? Only for special events?
