Beyond Belief BB Cream

Have you noticed the BB Cream craze? It’s seems like they are popping up all over!

BB Creams (the BB stands for beauty balm) have been popular in Asia for years and now are popular here in the States. These multi-tasking wonders combine skincare and cosmetics to create an all-in-one product.  Have you tried one yet?

I got a chance to try the new Beyond Belief BB Cream, which is a 5-in-1 Skin Perfector. It primes, perfects, hydrates, corrects, and conceals, which really means I don’t have to use a separate moisturizer, primer, concealer, and foundation when I use it.  I told you that BB Creams were multi-tasking wonders!

Not only does this save me so much time in the morning, but I love that I am able to get a smooth finish with only one layer of product! The Beyond Belief BB Cream comes in three shades: Light, Medium, and Medium-Dark. Each shade blends easily, so I was able to make it look even and blend with my skin tone. After applying, I just move on to applying my powder cosmetics.

Beyond Belief BB Cream will be in your local Sally Beauty store starting in March (that’s this Friday!), so be sure to try it out and let us know what you think about BB Cream!

Friday Fashion Poll

I tend to stick with the same eye shadow shade for years, which is kind of crazy considering I work for a beauty company and probably have every shadow under the sun. I will mix it up for nights out or if I’m feeling particularly adventurous that day, but for the most part it’s the same shade every day.

For awhile I stuck to a nice shimmery sage color, but I’ve found a new go-to in the Femme Couture Velvet Eye Colour in Velvet Smoke (pictured). It’s a really interesting shade with hints of grey, brown and a tiny bit of purple. It’s neutral enough for day wear, but not too brown on me. When I wear brown eye shadow everyone asks me, “Are you okay today?” I guess brown makes me look sad?

Anyway, my question in all of this is, how often do you switch up your eye shadow? Do you have a go-to shade? If so, what is it?

The Secret to Even Color

Have you noticed that the mid-lengths and ends of your hair become a little darker every time you color your new growth? This common problem can be easily solved with the help of Ion Color Brilliance Pre-Color Treatment!
Just retouch your new growth as usual then spray the pre-color treatment on all the mid-lengths and the ends of your hair. The treatment protects porous hair, and prevents it from picking up color as you rinse and shampoo at the end of the retouching process.
If the mid-lengths and ends do need refreshing, the pre-color treatment also allows you to pull the color through for the last few minutes without too much darkening.

The current animal print “Flavor of the Month” is snake print. It’s popping up on bags, belts, all sorts of accessories and even nails! It’s ssssssuch a hot trend right now! :)

I’ll admit that it’s probably not my favorite animal print (snakes = creepy!) but I can definitely see myself wearing greige polish with a snakeskin accent nail. It’s a little rock star and fun, without being too in your face SNAKE!

What about you? Do you find the whole snakeskin trend cute or creepy?

Meet the Gang

Showcasing the men and women behind the scenes at Sally Beauty

Stacey Jones is senior brand manager of professional goods and hair color.

Stacey’s work with research, design, and hair color products takes her all over the world, most often to Italy and Switzerland. She also manages the team of educators, and is in charge of the test salon where new products and techniques are evaluated.

What do you love about your job?

The creative aspect. There’s a lot of creativity behind the science of beauty products, determining what we want the product to accomplish and how to get there. I also enjoy directing artwork and photography shoots for the packaging and promotional imagery supporting my brands.

How do you spend your free time?

I love being outdoors, anywhere! I’m a passionate gardener. I also love the water, whether it’s a pool or the ocean. I enjoy it all, from skiing to scuba diving.

Give us an amazing fun fact about yourself.

I have a passion for cars. I worked at a car wash and I took auto tech in high school. I can rebuild a carburetor without any trouble.

What is your favorite product available at Sally Beauty?

Ion Color Brilliance. I think it’s the best hair color in the industry, and I love the rich, emollient feel to my hair after rinsing.

Mystic Divine

February has been quite eventful! Trying to stick to January resolutions, shorter days, and the cold weather has all left me feeling blah! I could use a vacation to exotic island right about now… ahh!

Okay, snap back to reality Hazel! Since, I can’t do that, I will definitely take some pampering on a reasonable scale.

Luckily, Sally Beauty has that covered with Mystic Divine. This hair care line is exotic, blissful and with their Buy 1, Get 1 FREE – affordable!

Mystic Divine contains Argan oil and Monoi oil (a Tahitian Coconut oil blend perfumed with Gardenias – so luxe!) that help to transform weak, dull hair into smooth, healthy, shiny hair, while also protecting from heat damage and color fade-out. Not to mention, the packaging is super-cute and I love pretty things on my counter!

I used the Nourishing Masque on my distressed tresses, grabbed my favorite fashion magazine, a comfy chair and escaped!

Friday Fashion Poll

I recently chopped off 6″ of my hair and I’ve been loving having less hair to manage in the morning. Before that haircut, I realized that I hadn’t gotten it trimmed in almost four months. Yikes! That certainly explains why my tresses were looking so terrible! I usually try to not let more than 8-10 weeks go by, but time slipped away from me.

So that brings me to this week’s poll question – How long do you go between haircuts?

Plugged In Bubble Wand

Don’t you love those beach waves that all of the celebrities are wearing on the red carpet this season? I know I do! The problem is, I had no idea how they created them.

I tried curling iron after curling iron, and never got that perfectly imperfect curl that they had. Then I tried the Plugged In Vintage Glamour Bubble Wand. Not only is this one of the easiest to use curling tools out there, I finally created those perfect beach waves!

All you do is clip the end of a 1” section under the heated clip and curl your hair up. The bubble wand does the rest! Now we can all look like a celebrity.
