Tool Science Styler HD

After watching several tutorials and techniques on YouTube, I still have trouble getting a nice, even curl and the end results are always catastrophic.

Super sleek hairstyles have always been my favorite way to style my hair, but now that curly and wavy styles are in vogue, I really like the idea of being able to get a wavy look every once in a while without the commitment of buying a curling tool that I won’t use very often.

So I recently tried the new Tool Science Styler HD which features extended plates with curved edges that make the curling and waving process much easier. It has more surface contact and delivers a more defined wave effect than what you can get with a regular straightening iron (especially for those who cannot master the curling techniques like myself).

Plus it does not pull on my hair when gliding down on an angle like a regular iron with flat plates.

I have to say that this tool is amazing and now I can have the best of both worlds – straight and curly whenever I want.

BeLiss Pro Titanium Curling Iron

So I think everyone deserves a GREAT curling iron in their arsenal of styling tools. I use one just about every day, and over the years I thought my cheap drugstore versions were doing just fine. Then I started to use some professional quality curling irons and realized what I had been missing.

My latest is the new BeLiss Pro Titanium Curling Iron. It features a soft touch handle that feels great in my hands and an easy to use temperature dial that has more than enough settings to do everything I need (from a light curl to smooth out the ends, to seriously tight and bouncy curls).

The Sol-Gel Titanium finish on the barrel gives it a smooth glide so it’s easy to style my hair. And this morning I got super smooth hair using my BeLiss curling iron with the new Beyond the Zone Hair Primer, which I used instead of a conditioner to detangle and smooth my hair before drying.

I am not someone who can stand having much texture on my nails. I love the look of chunky glitters, but without an extra thick topcoat to smooth things out, I start to PICK PICK PICK the minute they’re dry. It’s a compulsion!

As much as I think these new nail polish finishes like velvet, beads and gritty textures are so fun, I don’t think they’re something I can pull off. At least not for more than the 5 minutes it takes for me to pick the polish off.

Beyond Belief Vita C+ Exfoliating Facial Scrub

I love the way my skin looks and feels after I use a scrub and I’m always experimenting with new ones. This time of year I’m especially faithful at exfoliating because autumn is when my first hint of winter dry skin starts to appear. Dry and flaky never looks good!

On my last trip to Sally Beauty I noticed the Beyond Belief Vita C+ Exfoliating Facial Scrub and I picked up a tube to try. I have to tell you, this has become my new favorite. I love how gentle it is! The scrubbies are fine, but are still really effective! In fact, it’s so gentle that I could use it every day and it works on all skin types.

I like that it leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft, but doesn’t feel like I’m tearing it apart, like some of the rougher scrubs do.

Most of all, I love the compliments I get about my skin looking brighter and smoother. Can a girl (or guy, for that matter) ever get too many compliments? I think not. Give it a try and see what you think!

How do you like to wear your eyeliner? Do you go for the 60s inspired, Adele look and wing it, or do you prefer to rim your eyes for a sultry, smoky style?

I will occasionally smudge a black liner around my eyes for a night out, but my everyday liner of choice is the wing. I just love how it makes my eyes look more awake and a tad bit flirty.

Fantasy Wigs

Halloween is almost here and I still haven’t picked out a costume, but I think I found the perfect inspiration. I bought a pink fantasy wig from Revlon, that I ordered through my local Sally Beauty store, and I love it!!

They come in many different colors including pink, red, violet and aqua and are really great quality for the price. I decided to go longer and picked out the one they call Pizazz, They have 2 other shorter styles called Shock and Flash. Even the names are fun!

These are synthetic and you can’t use heat styling tools on it so keep that in mind when picking out the style you want. Even though I don’t know what my costume is going to be yet, I can’t wait to see people’s faces when I show up in this fun, pink wig!

How far would you go to have a truly authentic Halloween costume? Would you ever color your hair? I’m not talking about using wash-out spray color, either! I’m talking about real deal, have to stick with this look for awhile, color.

I recently heard a story about a woman who had always had bleached blonde hair, who colored her hair black for a Halloween costume. If you’ve ever gone from very light to very dark, you know it is a loooooong process to get back to the light shade. You have to give her props for her commitment to her costume, though!

Denton Komen Race for the Cure

The red t-shirts worn by Sally Beauty Holdings employees seemed to be everywhere at the second annual Susan G. Komen North Texas Denton Race for the Cure held at South Lakes Park in Denton, TX on Saturday, September 29. It was a grey, drizzly morning, but the over 200 members of Team Sally were “in the Pink “ and nothing could dampen the spirits of our team. Sally Beauty Holdings, as the presenting sponsor for Komen North Texas 5K Walk/Run, gave away 2,500 red backpacks with beauty samples from both Sally Beauty and CosmoProf stores. Many attendees commented how thrilled they were to get our sample bag again. We had 135 participants in the 5K Walk/Run and 75 volunteers who assisted on the race course and at check-in, the largest team at the race. We were also proud that we won the t-shirt design contest!

But most importantly, the race was a financial win for the North Texas affiliate of Susan Komen as it has raised $140,000 to date. This money will fund the important work of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which since its inception has invested almost $2 billion in its promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever.
