Nail Tip of the Day

Glitter. We love glitter. It adds pizzazz, makes a statement and is all around just pure fun. The downside to glitter? Removing it.  How many of you struggle to remove glitter polish from your nails? I do!

Well, here is a little help for you glitter lovers.

First, make sure you have your polish remover and cotton pads. I prefer Beauty Secrets Acetone Remover (for natural nails) and I suggest cotton pads that are made for removing nail polish, like Hands Down Ultra Pads. The cotton is very tightly woven, practically lint free, and won’t get caught on the glitter.

Next, take your cotton pad and soak it with the polish remover. Put the pad on your nail and let it sit for a few seconds to loosen the glitter from the base of the polish. Once you have soaked your nail, slide the pad from the back of the nail (cuticle area) to the tip of the nail in one sweeping motion. Do not rub back and forth because that will just move the glitter around. Repeat until all your nails are finished!

Let me know how it works out for you. Do you have any other tips for glitter removal? Share in the comments!

That is exactly how I remove my polish- one of the girls at a Sally’s Beauty suggested it. Those pads are the best thing ever for getting off glitter polish.

I have found that felt & acetone is way better for removing glitter polishes. All you have to do is cut a small square and it will last until the last piece of glitter is off. You can pick up felt in the craft section and its only about 50 cents and you can get about 15-20 squares off one sheet.

with Glitter that just doesn’t want to come off I use a cotton ball plus acetone. If it REALLY doesn’t want to come off I will wrap my acetone soaked cotton ball around my finger add some foil around it and by the time I’m done with all my nails I let them sit for about 2-3 minutes depending on the glitter (or even flakie) type slides right off and my nails is clean!
